TMI AND PPP HANGOUT NIGHT

Sometimes you just talk really loud to cover it up! Not in this case...

Another funny video! But this time I was thinking about making a little analogy...

In this case, farts could be like sin.  Even if we try to cover it up, or hide it from the eyes of others, we are still sinning.  Thankfully, by the grace of God, He cleanses us from our sins!

"You forgave the iniquity of your people; you covered all their sin." Psalm 85:2 (ESV)

So, the next time you catch yourself trying to cover up or justify a wrongdoing, immediately ask God to forgive you.  We can't cover up our sins, but God can with His blood.

Galations 5

Hey everyone,

Who wants to join me in learning Galations 5? I've been trying to memorize it since the beginning of the semester, but I've only kind of memorized the first verse and the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). I think if we all keep each other accountable, it will be much easier. There are 25 verses in the whole chapter, so if we learn 2 verses each week, we should be able to finish it by Winter Break. If you guys want, we can double it up a couple of weeks so we aren't trying to memorize verses during finals week.

Here's a link to the NIV version of the passage. When I was comparing it to the ESV version, I felt it was easier to memorize, but feel free to memorize it in the ESV version if you would like.

The reason I want to memorize this chapter is because Paul tells us that we are free in Christ from our sins and we no longer have to be bound to our sinful ways or to meaningless religion that does not save. He shows explicitly what is sin, and also shows us how to lead a life in the spirit, which is the next step to spiritual growth. I think that these themes are important to remember as we continue to grow in our faith, so I figure if I/we learn this chapter, it will be able to remember the verses when we feel tempted, feel like we aren't growing, or need to remember what it means to have life in Christ.

Hello :) - Devos

Hey girls! How was your guys week/ weekend? 

I just wanted to say how excited I am that all of you girls are part of this small group! And now that we are starting accountability, it's time for more bonding time, closer relationships, and more fun adventures with you all! :D I hope you guys really take advantage of having a sister in Christ keep you accountable. If you have a goal, tell your partner so they can help keep you accountable! We also want accountability to be somewhere we can share all our burdens, worries or problems without judgement! Be willing to be open and transparent with your partner! :)

So how are your devotionals going this week? Have you guys stuck to your schedule? Have you realized how precious God's word is?

God's word...

5. Adds stability - enduring forever
6. Promises justice - altogether righteous

God's word should not be taken for granted! Remember "in keeping them there is great reward."

prayer request

hey girls, I have a prayer request! I have an interview coming up Thursday with PG&E for an Associate Engineering position! They just told me yesterday so that means i have less than a week to prep! o_0 Please pray for confidence as I step into a nervewracking situation where I potentially place my future in my interview's hands.  I have trusted till now that God is preparing me for the job that He wants, but sometimes its hard to see that light amidst the tunnel sometimes. Pray for Trust.


Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us... Ephesians 3:20

PRAYER, PRAISE, CHALLENGE: 9/28-10/6

Don't forget to tell us your prayer requests, praises, and challenges for yourself!
We want to be able to pray for each other and hold each other accountable.

Small Groups: JOY

This week we went over joy. The passage we went through was James 1:2-8.


We defined joy as something God gives us that is eternal and cannot be taken away from us. Joy does not always mean that we will always be happy, smiling, or positive. Sometimes we will be sad and depressed, but having faith in God's plan for us gives us joy. We are also able to have joy because of what God has done for us, He gave his son for us so that we wouldn't have to spend eternity in Hell [Habakkuk 3:18]. We also talked about the difference between happiness and joy: happiness is temporary and circumstantial while joy is eternal. We also saw the difference between emotional joy and spiritual joy. Emotional joy is something that everyone has because it's similar to happiness. But spiritual joy can only come from God. During our trials, we should remember that God is not the cause us of falling into temptation. It is because we gave us God's truth for the world's lie that we have a sinful nature [Romans 1:25]. Another thing we must remember is that God will never give us more than we can handle [1 Corinthians 10:13]. Anything we go through, God will always provide a way out. So because God will never give us too much, we must stand fast in our trials.


Here's the equation:
Unwavering faith + our reliance on God + putting our faith in God's perfect plan = joy


Lastly, remember that God is always the perfect comfort and will always provide the perfect comfort.
IN: Do you have faith in God's plan for you? IF YES: How are you going to maintain that faith and joy? IF NO: What changes are you going to make in your life? What is preventing you from finding joy?
OUT: Are we willing to be a source of comfort? Are you willing to comfort friends? neighbors? strangers? Are we willing to go out of our comfort zone to comfort people?


I hope you really apply this to your lives and challenge yourselves to do what you know God desires of us.
